Are We Crazy About Our Kids in Winston-Salem?

Are we crazy about our children in Winston-Salem? What are we doing to ensure that we give them the best future? What should we be doing? Watch this video clip to prick your conscience and then tell us what we should be doing for our children.

This is one of the supporting episodes to the forthcoming documentary series, The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation, now in production by California Newsreel. The video discusses a program in North Carolina that demonstrates the value of early intervention.

Science has demonstrated that a child’s experiences during the earliest years are vital to building the foundation for life-long individual success – in school and in life.

Now, economists are studying the costs and benefits of high quality early care and preschool. And they’re worried. Not because we’re spending too much but because we’re spending too little where it matters most.

Justice is compassion raised to an institutional level.

About compassionatews

Think of a giant umbrella. Under that umbrella are all of the programs and acts of compassion that we see – and don’t see – around us in Winston-Salem.
